16  Club Arnage / 2017-18-19 / FOR SALE: Up to 6 Arnage camping on: May 14, 2018, 11:21:04 pm
As per the subject. Our gang was primed to swell the ranks significantly this year when the tickets went on sale. Since then we have rounded up some irritating lack of commitment (first communions, redundancy and another got fired! Add in the man whose business is too busy to get time off and a family feud ...)

The tickets are 49€ each: currently in France, can get them to me in sunny Reading if that helps. Simplest would be to sort delivery at Arnage (I will be there from gate opening.)

...
I strongly recommend a trip out here over the weekend.
Couldn't agree more! Think this needs its own thread with "Thank you ACO".

The "give us back Indianapolis" campaign at last gets a result. Viewing all the way back to the Toyota gantry towards Mulsanne. Wednesday quali we could hear cars accelerating out of Mulsanne, then see the lights on the Armco, then the cars appear.

Another new bank not previously mentioned is more or less across the end of the forest road (at the end of the gravel runoff) and extends right into Indianapolis itself. You an see the discs glowing, the turn-in point. And there are parts of both Indy banking high enough to get pictures with no fencing.

Right on Indianapolis itself is a disabled viewing area, if I had a sign and a hilti gun it would already be dedicated to Debs.

At the Arnage end the viewing is extended slightly so if you are at the extreme left  you can see the kink towards Maison Blanche. One lady standing next to us said the view was as good as in 1988!

Got a photo of the reglement at Arnage but can't host photos from here. My interpretation is that it applies to sporting arenas, all alcohol, I.e. trackside. At Arnage the new layout means spectators have to walk through the campsite to get to the banking.

Have been in and out of Arnage several times in car an never opened anything.

Having said all that plenty of self brought alcohol on the banking at Arnage/Indianapolis last night and no chechs visible.

So methinks, like the breathalyzers the law is actively in place and actively not enforced.

Take my words back, available at ACO shop today for €1. Right hand q (merchandise) as opposed to left hand which sells the tickets themselves!

Drove past Houx and BN today. Looked OK but only about 10% occupied and looks could be deceiving. Would need amazing drainage to be good IMHO, certainly 200 or more of the 300 ticket holders at Arnage are going to be very indignant.

Mega rain storm again last night, any appearance that things are drying out is an illusion.
23  Club Arnage / General Discussion / Campsites a mudbath on: June 12, 2016, 06:43:43 pm
Arnage campsite today is extremely soggy from historic rain. With more forecast for next 7days I would guess at least Arnage will be much worse than 2013. Bring tow straps, snow chains, wellies or whatever would be my advice, potentially dry spots have already gone.

Written rules on the entrance to Arnage campsite today, NO ALCOHOL! Our car was loaded to the roof so had no problems, next member of our group to arrive had visual check of all boxes in boot, fortunately only party tent.

Would image enforcement will be sporadic but take care out there

Tickets are 20.4*8.3 cm. But e-tickets have to be printed on A4 and it takes a fair amount of origami to fold them so the barcodes are visible and they fit a Club Arnage wallet.

Didn't ever see wallets in the shop of a sensible size/price, or in any of the other places like Super-U that sell EG despite asking last couple years. ACO shop has silly price lanyard/wallets and the wallets (in the past) were not a simple fit for 20.4*8.3 cm tickets.

Methinks impossible to give appropriate advice as, being France, past performance and written guidelines are academic! Certainly don't recall any controls last year although we had our vino in pouch thingies just in case.

Also arguably worth distinguishing between campsites and trackside as rules may vary - remember a few years ago campsite officials made a token effort (for about 10 minutes) to stop bottles coming in to Arnage campsite.

I can't find any official guidelines on glass but pretty sure there were some in the past. The only thing I can find was on the back of the 2014 EG tickets there was stuff about glass bottles (in English), the 2015 EG had no English on the back. 2014 was referring to law 06/12/93 which is no doubt still in effect. Or not as per the alcometers!

Section 4.1.3 of the general rules is pretty vague and could result in anything being seized:
At the entrance of the Venue, Ticket holders agree to submit to a search of their person and to a visual inspection of all luggage (such as handbags, rucksacks etc.) and the inside of their vehicle (including the boot), by any police officer and/or any employee of the event organizer approved by the Chief of Police, and may be invited to present the items in their possession. Items prohibited under the rules and regulations implemented by Le Mans circuits shall be seized by the competent authorities. The organizer disclaims all liability for any items seized by the competent authorities.
