31  Club Arnage / General Discussion / Re: Have you got a few minutes to help update the guide? on: May 23, 2016, 01:41:30 am
Have a rewrite of Arnage campsite on my to do list and will get some new pics. Hopefully more than 1 tap.

Shame about the trees though, ACO don't seem to like trees very much, the forest esses lack a certain something, oh I know trees!
They've also culled a large number of trees on the inside of the track as you go from Mulsanne to Indi (past the golf course). So the lingering moisture 'through the forest' there is probably history.
33  Club Arnage / Help / Re: Anyone know about selling shares in a hostile take over? on: April 20, 2016, 01:06:41 am
Unless you have a significant holding (5 or 10%) I vote scam! They can just buy on the open market a damn sight cheaper (up to a limit when they have to declare their intention).

How did they get hold of you? Only legit path is if you hold the shares directly and they have got hold of the shareholders register.

Would be pretty sure they need a fixers fee upfront (probably to Nigerian bank account, the same guys who are releasing my unknown uncles millions for me!)

PS the interesting point would be their licence to broker those particular shares they have to be LSE registered (or name their broker who is)

So potentially this look very good, if it allows spectating at Indianapolis.
Yup - see lynxd67 beat me to it with pics in the Where to watch thread but was passing by on Monday and this is my pic - taken at entrance to Indianapolis with back to Mulsanne:

It does look like the arnage campsite could be a bit well, boutique, that's to say small.
Seems it is being extended approx 50m back into trees (relative to Indy/Arnage "straight") and maybe more. Did take some pics but clearly work in progress still so hard to tell what will greet us in June. Also any fencing between spectator area and campsite still missing so how to access banking at Indianapolis and what facilities will be where for spectators/campers yet to be revealed.

Absolutely agree. A couple of years ago worked with Werner to pull all the "Before you go" stuff into a section at the end of the guide so it could be left at home. From about 2014 it has been left in the wiki and should be a fair basis for the Christmas publication.

As far as I can see the photos of ground works on PistonHeads are entirely consistent with the map posted by Kev_mk3 above.

So to totally confuse things (or more likely confirm lack of general awareness as to what is actually happening) my contact was told today by the ACO
  • A roundabout is going to be built instead of the intersection and at the same place . So the road will still be the same than before . There wouldn't be a new road built across the camp site . The "Virage d'Arnage" will probably be modified , as it happened at Mulsanne when they built the roundabout a few years ago.
  • A new spectator's bank is going to be built and extended until Indianapolis.
  • The Arnage Camp Site will be enlarged toward Indianapolis (but the trees won't be all brought down).
As per general consensus we will see come June!

Has anyone got camping tickets for it?
Yup. Up to 45 euros for 2016. Seems they pretty much sold out on 3rd so unclear whether it is smaller, bigger or more popular.
38  Club Arnage / General Discussion / Re: The (Unrelated To Le Mans) Joke Thread on: October 22, 2015, 01:55:08 am
There is a new play off for 5th place in the rugby world cup..

Pretty easy to do, certainly easy to set security so that anyone who wants to even read the forums has to be pre-approved by a moderator.

Harder is cost, I got phpBB forums bundled with my ISP a few years ago but don't know if such luck still exists.  Certainly freeparking.co.UK do a package for £4/month that advertises 1 click phpBB. Webhosting.UK.com have cheaper packages but on a quick glance I didn't see phpBB mentioned. Only mention these 2 as I currently take services from them both, there are many others!

Main tip, do make sure all your passwords on the server are very strong, 12+ random characters. Lowlife on the www make a habit of trying to hack servers and shared servers mean you are a bit more exposed.

There are several behind the viewing banking on the inside of Tertre Rouge.

And 1 in Arnage viewing area close to the showers.

Did pass by with (female) friend and daughter but entrance procedure seemed to be of French design (i.e. complete chaos) so both were anxious to go do something (anything!) more useful.

On the one hand can see some point in the argument that male dominated places can do stuff to make female partners more welcome but tacking a manicure desk onto a golf-course (or whatever) is patronising. In any event both friend and daughter attend Le Mans for the booze, food, camaraderie & racing so don't need to be patronised!

IMHO the female % at Le Mans is increasing year on year anyway - no idea what the hell ACO are trying to achieve.

1 - I've forgotten my facebook logins (yup created 2 to prove that fake IDs were possible at the time years ago when they claimed it wasn't) so my vote is loudly of the miserable old git nature!
2 - Tapatalk

Just checked in at Dover,  it's a "wave it at them" day for us and no prior logging with DFDS.

Bad news is Calais is closed for a couple of hours for WW2 bomb disposal and they are prepping operation stack on the M20. Good news is we are headed to Dunkirk.

... got whacked by heavy traffic last year when we came in from the north on the Thursday afternoon...basically lots of people queuing on the motorway going nowhere!
crispy - which motorway? The bottom of the A28 where it meets the A11?

Trying to work out best way to get folks to Arnage Thursday evening. If A28/A11 is a car park then figure it can be avoided by taking A13 towards Paris from Rouen, then N154 down to A11 then A28 south again towards Tours till junction 24. (In my experience J24 brilliant for Mulsanne/Arnage access which could avoid the J23 car park.)

Figuring the D326 in from the west (J9 of A11) could well become dodgy but lynxd67, you have the local knowledge and figure that is less likely? Presumably as all the Paris folk arrive from east?
