61  Club Arnage / General Discussion / Re: New class for 2024 race on: January 25, 2021, 08:24:23 pm

Red Bull Advanced Technology’s and ORECA plan to field cars in the hydrogen category in 2024.Watch this space.

I thought they just had the joint contract to build the spec chassis, so it will look like every other Oreca then!

There is already a backup plan for a race to be held in Europe, probably April time, if Sebring doesn't happen.

My worry with Glickenhaus is that they have had plenty of time to get at least one car built and tested, let's not forget the HyperCar regs were due to start at Silverstone last September!

I just hope they aren't going to turn up for Spa and Le Mans then disappear as others have done before them.

I hate to say it but I'm still not convinced we will be allowed to go to LM this year, or if we are that it will be a full crowd.
Whilst we may be vaccinating at a fast rate, the rest of Europe isn't.

As in all things, time will tell.

Glickenhaus have already said they will miss the first WEC round at Sebring (if it happens anyway), I don't think they have built the first car yet, let alone a second one!
65  Club Arnage / General Discussion / Re: Merry Christmas and as for the new year ????? on: December 31, 2020, 10:35:23 am
Well, what a year it has been, I hope everyone has come out of it safe and sound!

It's been a year for re-assessing parts of our lives, and in some ways that has been a very good thing, even though it was forced upon us.

I hope everyone enjoyed their Christmases, and wish you all a safe, happy but above all heathy 2021.

Hopefully when Stroll and his buddies sell out their stake in AML to Daimler they can also dump the F1 team and return to Sportscars in one form or another.
67  Club Arnage / General Discussion / Re: LM Test Day 2021 on: December 11, 2020, 09:23:25 am
Are there any hints or news on when they might start selling?
Somebody did mention "after Christmas".  The 2nd wave has slowed things down, but the vaccines should speed things up.

Plus I presume they won't start selling tickets until they are confident that there is a good chance that a reasonable crowd will be allowed, at the moment the signs still aren't good.
68  Club Arnage / General Discussion / Re: LM Test Day 2021 on: December 07, 2020, 09:27:27 am
As I suspected, just the one round of scrutineering, on the Friday and Saturday prior to the test day.
69  Club Arnage / General Discussion / Re: LM Test Day 2021 on: November 27, 2020, 09:41:08 am
2 options, move scrutineering to Monday/Tuesday or do it before the test day.

There is usually scrutineering prior to the test day, so the sensible thing would be to do just the one on the Saturday prior to test day,  however....  They are French of course. Roll Eyes
70  Club Arnage / General Discussion / LM Test Day 2021 on: November 24, 2020, 09:23:39 am
I see the test day returns for next year, but on Sunday 6th, that is the Sunday prior to race weekend.

It'll be interesting to see what they do about scrutineering as that would traditionally be the first day of Pesage in town. Plus there is usually scrutineering on the Saturday prior to the test day. Will they just do it once? Time will tell I guess.

There are lots and "ifs and buts" but I think we're "Game On"  Cool

Ferry already booked/postponed in September

Agreed on the if's and but's front with no end in sight on the covid front Sad

We have credit from this years tickets, plus the ferry has been rolled over, so there won't be as much cash flow outwards for next year which is something I suppose. Like many our plans are made but the potential for change  remains.
72  Club Arnage / General Discussion / Re: Straka racing on: October 01, 2020, 02:12:51 pm
I think they've bought 3 GT4's not GT3's, with an aim to do the European series
73  Club Arnage / General Discussion / Re: Silverstone 2021? on: September 21, 2020, 02:12:02 pm
Isn't Silverstone a back up in case they cant go to the states due to covid 19?

19th of March at Silverstone.
Oh joy!
They would have to reschedule the date if that were to happen.

During the ACO press conference it was stated that if Sebring couldn't go ahead then there would be a race in Europe in early April.

Everyone is presuming that would be Silverstone, but still likely to be cold and damp in April, with the chance of snow!

We'll be going, it's always part holiday part LM for us anyway. It will be an interesting experience, both for us that go and those that don't.  I'm sure there will some sort of group get together in the UK, either in person or virtually.

We are waiting with interest on our email from the ACO in August as we have ACO grandstand seats, Mulsanne Camping (which we use for a group bbq during the week, only actually using it for camping on the Saturday night, hotel otherwise) and Parking Blanc. So probably one of the worst combinations possible  Roll Eyes  We are expecting to be in the Blue village that covers the ACO Grandstand, but of course that precludes use of Mulsanne and probably Blanc as it looks like parking and camping will be specific to the village you are allocated to.  We shall find out in August!
