According to the BGT website....
The 2006 Avon Tyres British GT Championship is open to cars in four classes GT2 open to cars homologated in the FIA GT2 category or Grand Touring cars produced in small numbers and eligible according to the organisers file. GT3 open to cars that strictly adhere to the FIA GT3 Regulations GTC The basis for this class are the specific regulations for the single-make cups, & the characteristics of production cars amended by the points mentioned in the championship technical regulations. Any modification to the car is forbidden if it is not specifically authorised. Invitation class - This class will be for cars, selected by the organisers, which for reason of homologation, production numbers or other reasons do not comply with the regulations for GT2, GTC or GT3.
So now you know....

You can watch F1 cars in action for free at Silverstone if you go to one of the test sessions, but the pre-gp one was back in April
Ticket prices are all a supply and demand thing for big events, and Bernie and his pals have gotta be paid somehow!

We're going too, but camping near the circuit. Event timetable can be found here http://www.silverstone.co.uk/pdf/F1EventTimetable.pdfSilverstone village pubs will be packed, sadly one closed down due to lack of trade after the A43 dual carriageway was opened. Theres usually a funfair in one of the fields opposite the circuit, if thats your thing, we'll be partying on our campsite on thursday and friday night, Saturday night we will be attending the BRDC party.

We'll be there....
But then we are going for the social side as much as the GP, and the thundering historic GT car support race should be a fantastic sight and sound.
Of course we'll be camping from Thursday night, and Saturday night see's us attending a Pig Roast at the BRDC (with drivers attending too hopefully). I think the BRDC are trying to get Bernie to attend, but he doesn't fancy the idea of having a long pole shoved you know where and being slowly cooked.....
We have great seats overlooking luffield/woodcote, but then we do get them at a £40/ticket discount, get cheap camping, and don't have to pay for parking if its needed.
But it'll be three days at work afterwards, then off on Wednesday night for the big event....

So it was you then Piglet.....
We were in the Marshalls campsite too, but didn't get back till about midnight on saturday night after visiting the teams that were still working and then heading into the village for a beer or two.
Rick, Britcar 24hrs was a bit of a cockup at Silverstone last year, the Silverstone people thought that cos they had rented the circuit to the Britcar people then the Britcar people would do all of the organising...... But they didn't..... But this year I think the circuit people will be doing the organising so I would expect there to be some camping, but don't quote me on that!
