1  Club Arnage / General Discussion / Re: What cars? on: June 15, 2010, 08:21:37 pm
What can I say?

I paid 50 euros to walk to a B&Q car park for half an hour on saturday night (aka the Dutch bar on Maison Blanche  Grin ) and that was the extent of my trackside action.

Despite nearly experiencing the fastest eviction from the Brethren on record (sorry again Chop) I managed to group myself into some sort of order and pulled off the best year ever. The Brethren encompass the whole scope of Le Mans visitors that make the event so good. My thanks go to all of you but in particular Russ, Sausage, Chop, Elvis, Clive, The double yellow jersey winner Trayboy and Stinky Bill.

As for Wooly, my new rash (or should that really be Liz's rash cream?), sorry for making your week much harder work than it should have been, for forcing you to sleep in her tent with me one night and for keeping you up with awful rapping on another. But thank you for being her cousin  Grin

The rest of the week is still a blur but thanks to everyone who put up with me standing near them, particular those of you stupid enough to give me alcohol including JPC and crew, DfH, Team Zarse and the Melans.

I truly love every one of you

5  Club Arnage / General Discussion / Re: Le Mans Popemobile saved for the nation by The Brethren on: June 07, 2010, 01:52:32 pm
Spoke to Rex a couple of hours ago and the FormerlyKnownAsPopeButNowCalledSomethingElseAsYetUndecidedMobile is so far suffering from a flat battery and something which can only be called "Ferry Coordination f**k-Up"

They arrived in plenty of time for the 09:30 crossing from Portsmouth, the only trouble being that their ferry left at 08:30  Roll Eyes

They are currently enjoying far too much kronenbourg on the 09:15 Brittany Pirates crossing to Cherbourg where they will then have to be jump started off the ferry and go shopping for a new battery.

Expect the Bedford to roll into BN around 9-10pm tonight, battery permitting

What on earth am I doing at work this week? Very bad planning. Will slope off tomorrow afternoon then it's all aboard the funmobile heading South  Grin
7  Club Arnage / General Discussion / Re: Modern Commer Replacement on: June 02, 2010, 03:45:22 pm
Happily I have all the bits needed to do the repairs. Regretably the only thing I have found by poking around underneath her is advanced tinworm on the forward lower valance attaching to the chassis rails. A definite MOT fail... so unfortunately it looks like a no-show for the Commer this year. I'm going to plug it up with underseal and have a crack at the test but he'd have to be an idiot not to spot the mahoosive holes in the metal.

And after the work I've put in it's pretty disappoining for me. So I've taken my old Subaru Forester off SORN and got her back on the road. Oh well better luck next year...  Angry Sad

Haven't you met Rex's mate? He does a fine line in dodgy MOT certificates high quality MOT inspections and certifications  Grin

Mopar, Sausage, Chris plus a few of the other boys and possibly Woolly (weather dependant in his case ) are there for the weekend to Smokster.

Chris? What sort of a name is Chris?
9  Club Arnage / General Discussion / Re: ENGLAND V USA on: May 27, 2010, 11:28:42 am
When England wins 7-0, is that when the looting and car burning begin?  Over here, the vandalism and theft happen whether our teams win or lose.  I just need to know what to prepare for.

Thanks in advance.  Grin

One of our group suggested T-shirts saying 'ABFOI' - Anyone but France or Italy.  Grin

No no, surprisingly England fans seem to be a generally jolly bunch after a win. I'm not saying the odd bit of car burning won't happen but it will be as a result of over exuberance rather than intentional arson.

If, however, there's 10 minutes to go and the result looks dicey I would gather together your band of American brothers and run to the hills  Grin

Of course many England fans may have matured in their views, such as I have, to the point where I couldn't really give a monkey's fart if we even turn up to play. I'm afraid years of poor performance and general apathy amongst the players at what should be the greatest honour of your career has left a bitter taste in my mouth.

Alternatively, after a few "liveners" I may well be whipping up a lynch mob  Evil

The important thing is just to enjoy the game. Isn't it........?

Shame we won't be on the other block's doorstep but I'm sure we'll hear them from where we are and vice versa. Dare say we may even run into each other for a beer once or twice  Grin

When's it due back at PPT? I need to add some things to it Smiley

The Popemobile was then, this is now Bob.

Sgt. Major Chop is issuing instructions that anyone using the PM name will be put on a charge and dealt with in horribly perverted ways by Private Trayboy that defy description.

Rusty

I believe that most people these days are of the opinion that the pope is a c**t which would lead very nicely to an appropriate new name, particularly given the nature of the fellow who'll be driving it Smiley

Another hard weekend ahead, but she's looking good, generator cover and new steps fabricated, new panelling to the fuse box area. As Rex said, paint and graphics time next, refit the roof and rails, side and rear panel, finish interior decoration, refit roof lining and new carpets, fit TV and satellite, new fridge freezer and the list goes on.

Laters

Rusty

What about the decks man?

Have you managed to rouse the gabba gabba buffoon yet? Will someone please tell me what is going on.....
