Wowsers, that lot will fetch a few bob. Sadly, no bobs of mine, but it'll be interesting to see where they go. I might have hold of the wrong end of the stick of course, but it seems to me that classic cars are no longer being bought by enthusiasts, but by city boys with money to invest. Interest rates have been going in the same direction as a pair of beige slacks in a Brian Rix farce, so an investment in cars like these bad boys is a better bet.

I remember that transporter in Maison Blanche about six or seven (or more?) years ago, it might have been the same jags that were on it then that are for sale now, and I think I remember chatting to Barrie 'Whizzo' Williams as he put his feet up after a few laps of the circuit. It did look fantastic and all.

It looks more like BRG than EE blue in the pic, so it must have had a respray. After all. they have to match.

Classic car prices dipped with the bankers bonuses a few years back, but must be a good investment and you get to play with it.

Sadly there's a Corgi Ecosse transporter on eBay (boxed) for £250.  I've paid less for cars

It's a Commer naturally, the commercial transport of choice for the discerning gentleman.

We had a good chat at the Goodwood Revival in 2007 with the very hospitable owner and his pals who doused us liberally with cold champers as we discussed the finer points of the 2stroke diesel TS4 engine. The old boy who'd rebuilt it, IIRC his name was Ken or Barry or somesuch, was a delight and gave us a guided tour and how it all worked. I've lost nearly all the photos when the twats at BT closed down their digital vault; a shame, as that was the year we also managed to blag our way into the warbirds area and I got to sit in a Spitfire, still hot and cooling after it's display. Also blagged our way onto the grid for the F1 race. We were on fire that day! Happy days!

Oh and sorry to hijack the thread, just reminiscing as this year Goodwood falls on my 50th birthday weekend.

I chatted to the owner at LM Classic a few years back. He told me a tale of a very persistent Japanese guy who for a few years followed the transporter around the world. He was always armed with an assistant, a translator and a Coults chequebook. He finally got the message that it wasn't for sale at any price, when the owner kindly declined a cheque for $25 million. I wonder now why he's selling?
