GDPR
« on: April 28, 2018, 05:09:46 pm »
Not exactly sure who to address this to but what are CA going to do in order to comply with the new GDPR regs?

I only ask as I also run a car owner's forum and wondered if anyone here has got to grips with what's going to be necessary in order to comply with the regs from May 25th?

Thanks in advance,

Paul

Mate - even in my business it is - and remains - one major clusterfuck!

That said, an industry association I'm a director of and on the management committee for, employed external counsel to write a legal statement on data storage / use, and all members who use their website will have to consent to GDPR, or their access will be revoked.

It will depend on what identifyable data is held about each user

It will depend on what identifyable data is held about each user

Name, email address, ip address. Date of Birth.

Very simple really.

Users can add their own info if they wish such as location, job description and what type of car they drive.

Thx

GDPR only applies to companies with more than 250 employees.
I don't see how it would apply to CA.

Just looked at this site:

https://www.itgovernance.eu/blog/en/does-the-gdpr-apply-to-me

It  says:-

To fall within the remit of the GDPR, the processing has to be part of an “enterprise”. Article 4(18) of the Regulation defines this as any legal entity that’s engaged in economic activity.

======================================================================================================

So since CA doesn't really have economic activity and it has zero employees as far as I know.
Of course we have a Sell and Swap board but it's not really CA Selling or Swapping it is the members.

Thanks Tom, that’s really useful both in terms of SMAXOC but also my running club.
