New Tunnels
« on: May 30, 2005, 06:04:33 am »
I was just looking that some photos on lemans.org of what appears to be new tunnels at the last corner before the start-finish straight and another near Porsche curves. My question is mostly about the tunnel near the S-F straight, it appears that they have also removed the quick left/right onto the S-F straight. If this is true, that would mean that from Porsche curves all the way up to the curves at the Dunlop bridge would be nearly flat-out speeds. I haven't found any articles about this can anyone confirm this?

I took a look in March. They are re-opening the Ford Chicane tunnel that was closed  a few years ago for safety reasons. It looked pretty well advanced so I'm assuming it's finished by now.

The Ford chicane is unchanged as far as I know.

There was work going on at Porsche Curves as well, but I don't think its a new tunnel.

Special request please

Any chance of visiting the area inside the Bugatti loop (La Musee) to view the new tunnels and the impact on the camping area?

There a quite a few of us who are concerned about what we will see when we arrive on the 16th. At the last check there was much less area for tents and a building site underfoot.

Second that request from Lancs Seven.
We're normally camp in La Musee in the loop of the
Bugatti circuit between the 2 bridges which are now replaced by tunnels.
What is the impact on space?
How is it for camping i.e. what is slope of land? Is there any grass?
Have the bogs next to the old bridge gone/been replaced?
I'm looking forward to Le Mans, but anxious about our camping.
Worried of Bury.

I shall take full land survey kit, including gradient measuring, acreage, shyte house locators etc.

Or maybe I will just take some pictures :)

Actually, I'm not exactly sure where you want me to look - if you could find a map (in the Help section maybe) and annotate it, it would be helpful.

See email address in profile.
