Looks like common sense has prevailed and the "usual" pit exit will be used for the race.

Common sense and ACO.  You don't see those together in one sentence very often.

Good news that they are using the south exit it's always a great atmosphere cheering the cars leaving the pit lane after their final pit stop. A whole lot safer too.

Brilliant. The proper decision, and no more hiding behind the FIA.

This may sound like a stupid question...But!
Why would you need a pit exit that long and complicated in the first place?  I can't ever recall any problems with the old layout.

If I recall, the new exit layout was for the bikes and to please FIM.

Thankgod the proper car exit is going to be used. I wonder if it had anything to do with a few (french)  drivers saying they would use the old exit Whatever the ACO said.
Wooosh!!!!

Old Pitlane exit for the Race!
« Reply #14 on: June 09, 2006, 09:13:12 pm »
Pesca asked the ACO to switch back to the old pit exit for the race as the very long 60km/h limit would have been a big disadvantage to his team considering the need of more refuelling stops.

And if a frenchman asks the ACO to do something the answer will always be "oui" ;D

But I'm fine with that decision. That new pitlane is just ridiculous
