Hello all,
Have been busy recently so not had time to come on here  Embarrassed poor excuse i know  Embarrassed but have been booking lm and all that this year only to remember that i look after vqdave jr (bless her little cotton sox) on thursdays and fridays ( Shocked) so won't be doing the convoy this year, i will be doing a solo red eye and getting out of wokingham late friday!!

Just wondering if the autoroute will be open all the way this year to cut down on my journey time and consumption of pro plus.

Heres hoping, also hoping there will be lots of 24hour petrol on the way seeing as how i get about 200 miles max per tank of optimax so 150 miles on the old french stuff, specially with the olf lm right foot in action.

Hi Dave

The autoroute is open, however you still have to go through good old Rouen. New section starts to the west of Rouen, as if you are heading to Caen, on the A13. Apparently not many services on it though.
There is a thread on this subject somewhere.
Trying searching using:     New autoroute is open

I've done Le Havre Le Mans in a car with a 100 mile range, and it gets scary.  Many of the filling stations have shut, and you're more likely to find one in a village than on the main road.  These are now closing as the local supermarket now has cheap fuel.  We made it though.  Look at Mappy.com and make a plan, although it doesn't say when the service stations are open.  Many are shut after 5:30 and on Sundays, leaving a card operated pump that will only take French credit cards.

Optomax.  Oh dear, French petrol can be a bit rough, even the Super.  Stick to Shell & Total, and listen for "pinking" at low revs.  If its an expensive engine, take octane booster.

Plan now , and get it right on the day.  remeber the 6 "p"s

Dave,
I've made the journey loads of times on bikes with sub 120 range on them. Never run out of juice before. It does get tight though and that was during the day on non auto route journeys.
Make some space for a jerry can at least.
Best of luck.

Hello again, thanks its good to be back, I've missed all the LM banter.
I'm not taking anything exotic (i wish) just my Mini (Cooper S) which is damn thirsty and has a tiny tank.

ha ha no not me, can't ever see myself paying that much for a kit car Grin Grin

Sorry to all those TVR fans & owners out there.

Funnily enough I will be there in about 10 minutes or so, might cut through the car wash though if it is empty to save waiiting to turn right onto London Road, then right again into the garage.
