Erwin Kremer
« on: September 28, 2006, 05:54:32 pm »
The death of Erwin Kremer is being reported on various other sites.

Erwin was one of 2 brothers, the Kremers raced themselves in the 60's and 70's then ran the ultra succesful team thru the 70's 80's and into the 90's and recently in the historic Grp C series.

There greatest moment came in 79 when one of their Porsche 935K3's won Le mans.

They also built a 'new' 917K that they ran at Le mans and Brands Hatch in 81 and various other cars including the the CK5 based on 936 running gear and CK6 based around a 962.
Some people will tell you that slow is good - and it may be, on some days - but I am here to tell you that fast is better.

  • You don't win Le Mans - you outlast it.

That's very sad. I met him once at the Nürburgring during the Group C aera when I was a boy of 12 years. RIP Erwin.
I don't care - I'm a racing driver and I'm here to win, not to finish third.

sad news indeed
I recently met an 85 year old distant releative of mine and I knew he was into cars,Turns out he has a 1969(i think) Kremer Porsche that hes had form new.60,000 miles on the clock. Now kept in a nice warm garageand hardly used.
He was telling me his dilemma is who gets it in his will as his three sons are car mad.
I told him it was only fair that I should have it then his problem would be sorted!!
