I know that actual production ceased there two years ago, but here's another iconic bit of British motor industry heritage now about to bite the dust and transform itself (mostly) into yet more offices and warehousing....which manufacture nothing....

One would hope so, preferably involving the C to E type era, with works cars heading out of the factory being driven to a race.  Maybe it'll be something inspiring like the Spitfiire sculpture at Castle Bromwich......

I noticed on Sunday that as the air pollution has started affecting the Spitfire sculpture it is gaining in looks. Getting greyer by the day, I suppose the council will send a cleaning wagon round next, with the wrong sort of cleaner to buggerup the surface...

(They spent millions on stainless bogs for the municipal toilets and then set the cleaners round with some kind of acid that started eating the blarry things away!)

Beggars belief, dunnit?

Browns Lane now? Nothing at all left anywhere soon.

Ah sorry (solly) stupid me there will be lots of British stuff left over but it'll all be in China!

Browns Lane eh?
That reminds me, I must get my cycling trousers laundered....
It's a shame, and no mistake, we'll end up with some small spotty public relations herberts version of what constitutes a fitting reminder. Whatever it is, it beter be pre British Leyland days though.
I think I may have mentioned this before, - the AC car factory used to be just down the road from me, and now there is a very uninspiring estate of town houses there. Last time I looked there was a very tinny plaque on a gable end stating that 'this is where the Le Mans winning AC cars were made', which sort of suggested they were made in this blokes bijou front room. I'm not even sure it's still there.
If I had to put money on it, I'd say Jag and Astons days are numbered.
Sadly,
H

It was the fire at Browns Lane that but the end to the XKSS, the road going D type, and depending who you believe, resulted in the earlier development of the E Type /only the E Type, not something better.

At least you get preservation orders for trees
