I'm very sad
« on: July 13, 2003, 01:16:45 pm »
I've just realised I'm sat here reading the CA posts on a gloriously sunny Sunday afternoon.  Also, I'm the only one logged on and all the rest of you sods are probably at Goodwood for the Festival of Speed.  :'(

Steve,

You're not the only one on at the moment. I just thought I'd check out the messeges to see if anyone had reported back from the FoS.

Like Smokie and Powermite we went yesterday - see their postings elsewhere.

The FoS was a great day, beautiful weather, huge crowds making it hard to see the track action (unfortunately we did't have grandstand seats :() but managet to see enough, and good company of friends who had a stand with grub and plenty of cool drinks.

Worst for us was the traffic coming in to the event. 2hours 15mins from Cardiff to Chichester, 1 hour 45 minutes for approx 3 miles into the car park! We were anticipating a long wait to get out but managed it in about 15 mins after the long walk back to the car park. Just lucky I guess.

Here's hoping that those going today have similar luck, but I bet the drive in is going to be a long one for them as well.

Looking forward to traffic tales tomorrow.
A man's got to believe in something. I believe I'll have another drink - W.C. Fields

I'm now doubly sad as the LNB on my satellite dish has thrown a rod and I'm waiting for a new one - so no Motors TV for me.  :'(

If it is any consolation we had to travel down to Worthing on Saturday and came across a 5 mile traffic ......just trying to circumnavigate Petworthcue trying to get into Petworth.

Thought sod this for a game of soldiers!!!!....so turned back..........and went down the country lanes between Petworth and Goodwood..
Instead of the hours journey it only took an hour and a half

Couldnt go to FOS, so instead, I had rides in:

Caterham 7
MG-F
Sunbeam Tiger
Jag E-Type V12
Jag D type replica (had to do this one twice - best of the bunch)
Bentley Continental
Lamborghini Countach
T-Bird
Bricklin
Aston DB-4

and even got to blap the Sud round the track too for a few laps, which was easier than the Reverse Steer-MkII Escort and dual control Maestro, which near was cause for divorce!!!!
Scarred old slaver know he’s doin’ alright.
