A firkin is a size of beer barrel Randy.

9 gallons (imperial) or 72 British pints of foaming ale :)

we have a pub called the Fiddler and Firkin in the Hague, nice to know what Firkin stands for . ;D

This film should be played at high volume, so don't come complaining about it! And who the hell is Steve?

Firkin pubs are chained all over the place. Loads in the UK, also in USA (http://www.firkinpubs.com) and many other places around the world.

Thats about 40 litres or Kilos, so if you allow for the weight of the barrel, its moveable by a couple of delivery (or dray) men, so a popular size for pubs.  The pin, at half the size/weight could be carried (home)

Barrel Name            Size (Gallons)
Pin or Polypin    4.5
Firkin                      9
Kilderkin           18
Barrel                    36
Hogshead           54
Butt                   108
Tun                   216

A firkin is only 7 1/2 gallons in America, but 70 gallons of wine, and I think there is a metric firkin too :o

That is the one Randy.

On the corner, opposite the church.

They do have some fine Stouts on draft there...
