You don't win Le Mans - you outlast it.

It's on the to-do list this year, as well as the 24hs which are the weekend after that. However, I haven't got a clue yet how to manage both (Two flights or spending a week in the UK ?). I hope to see many of you there.

I do want to do this but as said in Sell or Swap, it's financially dodgy so it's touch and go as to whether I can afford it!  However, I do have a free Chunnel crossing for anybody who can fit me in their car (hgb, maybe we could figure something out between us?)

Debs, I wouldn't like to go by car, at least not the whole way from Frankfurt. The plan is to fly from Cologne to Stansted on Saturday morning (for 45 Euros) and then hopefully getting picked up. I need to talk to Kai as I need them to get my camping gear over and I would like to return with them on Sunday night/Monday morning. That way, I will be back in Frankfurt on Monday afternoon. That's the plan for the 1000 KMs.

For the 24 hours it looks a bit different: The plan is to take Ryan's cattle jet from Frankfurt Hahn to Stansted  (47 Euros all inclusive). Then, at Stansted I'll get a rental. That means, however, that I won't see the finish as I will have to leave early to catch the flight back.

Have to agree with Andy, don't like Silverstone at all, a little soulless. Will prob come down though if I can get permission off the wife for a weekend away.
Didn't make Whittlebury last year although made the race. Is it far to the circuit? Is it worth bringing a bike?

If you are coming down from the North East good Doctor I'll be setting off from North Lincs (between Scunny & Donny) fairly early on the Saturday morning. You are more than welcome to break your journey at ours and hitch a ride with me if you want.

Whittlebury was an easy walk to the circuit (or a short drive if you're an idle cow like me.)

All up for Whittlebury then? I've checked out the others and it looks like most of them only open up for the Grand Prix. Agree with you Deb, it's not too far to walk.

I seem to remember that last year, Steve, they were happy to put us all together, and all we needed to do was to put CA on our booking forms so nobody had the big headache of co-ordinating it.

Yeah, that's right although when I arrived you could just pitch up anywhere.
I'm happy now, I've an excuse to start rallying the team and checking the camping gear.

That's what I arranged last year.  When we got there, however, no space had been reserved and it was a free-for-all.

Not really a problem, provided someone gets there early and 'grabs' sufficient space for all, but a lot of the site is on quite a slope.

Looks good to me, less than half the distance to La Sarthe and no ferry. I'd probably try to arrive on the Friday evening just to save getting up tto damned early on the Saturday.
