The world of F1 was shocked today to learn that Ferrari had sacked its entire team of pit mechanics.
Ferrari racing boss explained that the team was taking advantage of the Government's 'Work for Dole' scheme.
He had learned that youngsters from Byker could change a cars wheels in 6 seconds, the best the Ferrari mechanics ever managed was 8 seconds during a race. As most races are won or lost in the pits he sacked the existing mechanics and hired a team from Byker. During a practice run at Monza the Byker lads beat their own record by 0.3 of a second on this years F1 Ferrari.
However Ferrari got more than they bargained for; in another 12.6 seconds the Byker boys had re-sprayed the Ferrari, re-badged it, changed the engine and chassis numbers and flogged it to the McLaren team for three crates of Stella, a dozen 'joints' and a photo of Lewis Hamilton's bird in the shower.
