Bad crash for Webber in Brazil
« on: December 01, 2014, 01:12:17 am »
Very nasty looking crash involving Mark Webber at the WEC in Brazil. Stretchered out of the car but at least he was awake and waved to the crowd. Unusually, there was a Ferrari involved too ::).
Fingers crossed he makes a speedy recovery.
A very good race apart from that and also TK's last.
If I was you, I wouldn't start from here

Update on Mark Webber’s condition from Porsche press release;

Stuttgart. Porsche works driver Mark Webber spent the night in a local hospital in São Paulo after his accident in the six-hour race on Sunday. He sustained bruising and concussion. Mark is still under observation at the hospital with his team mates and members visiting him. He is set to return to the UK later this week.

On Monday morning Brazilian time he said: “I’m quite sore this morning, am pretty bruised and have got a stinking headache. I’ve got no recollection of the accident or how it happened. The team is looking into the details to find out more. Thanks to the medical team at the track and here at the hospital, who did a great job and are looking after me very well.

“On a positive note, it’s great that the boys in the number 14 car managed to bring home the victory, which is a fantastic way to finish off the season. I’m already looking forward to getting out there again next year."

With half an hour to go in the season’s finale of the FIA World Endurance Championship Mark Webber lost control of his Porsche 919 Hybrid and suffered a huge impact when hitting the barriers. It is unclear what caused the accident.

Gald Webbo's gonna be ok it was a bleedin' fast one just over 300kmh. Great race though and the drivers on the podium all looked happy and relieved. TK's next outing will be ROC in Barbados later in december.

What is it with those Ferraris?

What is it with those Ferraris?

From what little video footage is available it looked as though Webber collected the Ferrari after the accident started.

As far as the McNish accident at LM was concerned, McNish at fault, the Ferrari held the racing line as per the drivers briefing, it's the responsibility of the LMP driver to safely overtake off the racing line. Not be impatient.
Rockenfeller's crash at LM, not a lot of video, but it looked like the Audi went onto the grass trying to overtake and lost control. Can't remember the Ferrari drivers name, but IMHO the penalty handed to him was harsh and unfair.

There are some plonkers in Ferrari's out there, however the LMP drivers are not totally without blame.
