Morning,

does anybody know the size of the pitches on Camping Houx - I've had varying answers on PH & TVRCC - so I'm hoping someone on here knows the CORRECT answer, it will be much appreciated!  Huh

the winner is invited to watch the England/France game at the Mid-Essex TVR club mansion on the Sunday! (Gazebo, Fridge & a Satellite TV!)  Grin

The problem is that if you are referring to Houx proper, not the annexe, they can vary in size...

I recall they are supposed to be 8x5m, but I saw some spots near trees etc that were bigger, and some thinner. I feel really sorry for people with motorhomes etc as you can get really stuck if you are unlucky as there is no flexibility to move as the spaces are numbered.

All that said, 80-90% are okay size wise - assuming you have spaces together and not split between rows (how can you tell if there is a "break" in your ticket numbers on the field?!

cheers Mr Toad... yes it is Houx proper - some people were saying the pitches were just big enough for your car & a 2 man tent... but 8x5 is massive - fingers crossed then I suppose!

Don't suppose you know if there is a plan of the plots available anywhere?

thanks again - Drum

I'd rather have another Tropillama!

The time I got on to Houx  the plot was pretty big.  I had a four person Frame tent with a Kitchen area it (the tent) must be at least 15ft x 12ft  I also had a Vectra and there was pleanty of space for my BBQ etc.  I was not strapped for space at all.     I have a friend who staied there a couple of years back.   He had two two man tents and Gazebo and his X-trail on the site with no problem.

The pitches are pretty good, just  hope that you don't end up next to the main road going through the site, otherwise everything you own will end up covered in dust.  Lat year we had 2 pitches and got 2 cars and 3 tents on with room to spare.

If you're looking for an electrical hook up make sure you take a very long cable as the electric points are sparse, you'll also need an adapter unless you can blag a connection of someone else. You'll find everyone is quite obliging.

Hope this helps.
