Does anyone know what time does Carrefour shuts, we don't get to Caen until 8pm on wednesday and then are planning on heading straight down to Maison Blanche. Expecting to get the about 10 in time to catch some of the second qualifying but at some point we need to stock up with beers etc..... might have to wait till morning

We got to Carrefour last year just after 21:30 and they were closing.

However, we were tipped off that Auchan closed at 22:00 so we roared up to there.

Or something like that?

Carrefour closes at 21h30 and Auchan at 21h45 ...
Le Mans is life, anything before and after is just waiting...

... it's not the taking part but the winning that counts !

What are the opening/closing times of the Intermarche in Arnage? and is there anything open later in the nearby area?

There's a big Carrefour right on your route at Caen. It's at Mondeville, near the Paris turn-off on the Caen ring road, only about 18 km from the port.
Follow the signs for "Centre Commercial - Mondeville 2 (the cinemas are there too) off the ring road just after the Paris A13 exit.
It closes at 9.30pm.

Do you mean Super U?
If so it has moved. There is a lovely shiny Super U on the Le Mans road out of Arnage just north of the Shell garage roundabout.
Opening hours are: 9:00am to 7:30 pm every day except Friday, when they close at 8:pm, and Sunday - closed all day.

You really would have thought that they would have caught on now that theres a race on and lots of people who need fresh supplies on a Sunday!!

You might, but there is a law in France preventing supermarkets over a certain size opening on Sundays with the exception of the last three weekends before Christmas.
Marche Plus (see Stu's useful maps etc.) is open on Sundays 9:00am to 1:00pm
The bakeries and little food shops - butchers, charcutiers etc are open in Arnage on Sunday morning too.

KPY thanks for the info regarding the carrefour near Caen, the problem we have as with many I guess is that we will be loaded already and won't want to stop and try and fit more in until we get to LM.

Beers trackside on Wednesday it is then ::)

Abs - if you have some room, the ferries are (I think) about the same as Carrefour prices - fag prices are certainly identical to tabac prices now. As Monday is a Bank Hol en France, I will be getting a few bottles on the boat on SUNDAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  :) :) :) :)
