It depends what you want really. If you just want somewhere to rest your weary legs/get a few minutes kip then any will do. Those along the start/finish straight will give you good views of the build up before the race, and of course the start and finish of the race itself.

Any stand opposite the pits has to have merit as you can see the goings on in the pit garages during the race. Very atmospheric in the night hours of the race in particular.

For me the ACO stand is the best of the bunch (now 2 grandstands - presumably due to the popularity). Views of the pits as stated above, also lower priced food and drink compared to the rest of the circuit, and (this is the best bit) clean and well maintained toilet and shower facilities.

In addition you can sit under the stand in the shade if it's really hot and enjoy a beer whilst checking the numerous timing screens and live footage of the race to keep an eye on what's going on on the track. Similarly if the weather is sh*t it is a great refuge.

For my money it's the best benefit of ACO membership.

Okay, enough of the kidding around  ;)

Here's a couple of photos I took at the LM 2004 Pre Qualifying weekend from the grandstand over the pits.

This one shows a view back down the start / finish straight towards the Ford Chicane.  That's Maison Blanche stand in the top left of the photo.

This stand gives a limited view of the start / finish action and the pre-race flim-flam but is good for the Ford Chicane / pit entrance.

If i was going for any i would choose a stand, it would be up by the Dunlop chicanes, with a view just as the carsb were heaving up the home straight and out of the pits.

Usually a god place for glowing discs, spinning cars and last ditch over takes !!

I've always enjoyed the view from Tribune Raymond Sommer.  I've never actually had a pass of my own but my good friend Nik (brother of Ricardo) has very gracioulsy allowed me to use his during the 22nd & 23rd hours of the event several times and I have some very memorable moments from being up there.  In 1998 I was sitting with a group of Germans when they began to chatter in a very excited manner and one leaned forward to me and said "Toyota is kaput" or something to that effect.
