The Way It Was

Don't know if this has been posted before. It's a clip from La Ronde Infernale - a video worth finding - shot in 1969, before they fecked most of it up.

La Ronde Infernale is a superb movie and is a must for any fan of LM history.

I have it on video and have managed to transcribe it to my PC hard drive with a view to moving it onto a DVD.

Very tragic too, the sight of the smoke that signals Woolfe's death is somthing that none of us would like to see again.

But it as Steve says, if you don't have a copy, then you should hunt one down its very very good.

Duke used to sell it.
Some people will tell you that slow is good - and it may be, on some days - but I am here to tell you that fast is better.

Never seen it, any chance of having a copy Steve.
I don't care - I'm a racing driver and I'm here to win, not to finish third.

Oh yes me too please Steve, that is a fantastic clip. Really whets the appetite for the full monte!

So if you do get it transcribed there is a market out here!

It is brilliant, except for the arty farty filmaker.  I wonder what was left on the cutting room floor

There are quite a few old videos in my collection, which don't seem to be available as DVDs. (In Car 956 is about the only one, and Le Mans pre 2000 all seems VHS) I suppose I'll have to copy them eventually.

Great film, there's a few of these from the mid-late sixties floating around out there.  Most of them started life as Castrol or Ferodo promotional films.  Speedchannel used to air a lot of these before they got bought out by Fox and turned into the "Good ole Boy" network.

I'm sure I watched 1969 on television as a boy.  There were early helicopter shots showing the Porsche and the Ford overtaking each other every lap..  I think thats what hooked me.

I wonder what happened to the footage - if any, it must have been live.
