RE: Bruce McLaren.

Rear end housing is letting go ,
car did two laps smoking like this and that was it.

Is it time to go to Sebring yet?

Great photos Lee.  Unlike Le Mans, Sebring hasn't really changed all that much.

1 month to go, see you at Turn 10.

Oh, its changed allright:

The track layout with respect to runways / taxiways yes ................. but (compared to Le Mans)

No huge catch fencing
No major pit changes
No corporate hospitality
No acres of gravel traps
No circuit modifications to slow the cars down
No restrictions to viewing for spectators
No major grandstand demolition / building

etc....

Obviously the biggest change was when they by-passed the active airfield runways in 1987.  This allowed it to operate as a full time racing facility year round.  Prior to that they were at the mercy of the Sebring airport authority.  The circut went from 5 miles down to 3.7 but the character of the place remains very much unchanged...and we like it that way!

Another nice thing they did was when they tore down the old pit complex a few years ago, the new one they built looks just like the old one.  All part of retaining the look and feel of the old pits.

Yes there have been changes but as Fax points out in character and improvements for the most part. Corporate hospitality has taken over teh pit roof which used to be free and agood spot to view the sunset straight from. the paddock has expanded considearably since my first visit.
