First Timers

We are a group of Le Mans first timers coming over from Oxford/Brighton looking for any good advice going really! how to make the most out of the week really!

Got everything booked up now, Newhaven - Dieppe ferry crossing and camping at Beausejour.

Any recommendations for the route (i.e. places / police to avoid!) facilities at Dieppe (any overnight parking?) and camping (what to bring/do/see/avoid/drink!).

Also is it easy to get from the campsite to le mans station as we might be giving paris a flying visit during the week

You won't find the time for that!!!!

Welcome to Club Arnage as far as I am aware there is no where to avoid really.

If you plan on going to Paris there are buses to Le Mans Town center during the week but I am sure you will find enough trackside entertainment to keep you busy

How easy is it go get to buses from beausejour? any idea on how much they'll cost?

There will not be busses from BSJ but they do go from the Main gate, BSJ is a far walk from there though, I guess it would take about 30mins.

There is a bus service which runs from BSJ up to the main circuit entrance, I believe, it may even be free.  You can then hook into the public transport system.  Not sure how busy it is but it is there.  If walking is an option, no reason why not, you can always walk into Arnage and hook into the public system there.

Have look around the Tourist board or talk to them on the phone and I'm sure they can send a bus map with timetable.

The Free Bus from BSJ goes to the back of Karting Nord and only runs during Practice and on Saturday and Sunday.  It is no good for connecting with other busses.  It just for getting closer to the Circuit.  To be honest I normaly find it easy to get the Car in and out most of the time.    If you have no transport then your a bit stuck.

To be honest I find it's not really a problem to walk in to the Track.  OK it takes a bit of time But I reckon it's as quick as Standing about for the bus then treking from Karting Nord to the Grandstands in all the crowds.

With the route.....most of us tend to travel via Rouen.

If you use the n158 the there is a permanent speed trap at Sees,plus Mr plod hiding in the bushes at various locations.....other than that you can use the new motorway all the way to Le Mans from Rouen ,but don't exceed the speed limits on the peage as the Gendarmerie wait at the toll booths  for unsuspecting punters!!!

If your going via Dieppe then you can avoid Rouen by using the road bridge west.

The roads are alot better and mainly police free.

Hi there,

We camped at BSJ last year and we found that to get to the circuit you were quicker walking that waiting on the bus (this is the bus to the circuit from the front of BSJ to the entrance at KN). Especially coming back, and if you don't like confined spaces and being wedged into peoples sweaty pits then I would recommend walking as the bus gets very busy during the race.

To get a bus into Le Mans town centre from BSJ your best bet is to walk along to Arnage (which will take you about 20 mins) and get the bus from the high street, they go every 15-20 mins, and the bus stop is right next to a bar so you can sit and have a beer while you wait. We used this to get to the drivers parade on the Friday and were very impressed with the service, it wasn't too busy either.

What day are you arriving on BSJ, our lot will be there from Thursday evening till Monday morning. If you mention some defining characteristic of your campsite then i will drop by to say hello. BSJ is massive so be specific, the campsite with the blue tent won't quite do it.

Good recomendation for the bus to Le Mans from Arnage, I've taken the specials from the main entrance on a few occasions and they aren't very pleasant.
