Grand Prix Finally On DVD
« on: May 02, 2006, 04:56:01 pm »
It's official, Grand Prix will at last be released on DVD.
2 Disc special 40th anniversary set.  Worth it for the footage at Spa alone.
Pete, do you sometimes get tired?  I sometimes get very tired...know what I mean?

Hmm,
Doesn't say anything about a PAL version on Paul's website but I would think it will be released in NTSC and PAL.  Beautifully filmed, the footage at Spa, Zandvoort, Monza pre-chicane and using the banking is all great stuff.

The footage riding piggy back over Jackie Stewart's right shoulder at Zandvoort is pretty damn good too Paddy.  Interesting story is that when JYS had his horrible accident in opening lap deluge at Spa when he went through the side of a house, while lying there trapped in the car with Graham Hill trying to free him there was a helicopter hovering overhead, they naturally thinking it was help on the way, but turned out to be the chopper filming for the movie!

Nah, not taking the piss out of anyone here.  Agree with Paddy that as far as a "Movie" goes it a bit thin, the plot is okay (as opposed to Le Mans which simply didn't have one)
but the characters are barely believable and at times it does drag.  The actual racing footage shot during 1966 season at Monaco, Spa, Brands Hatch, Zandvoort, and Monza is tremendous though.  If your a fan of the history of GP racing, its a must have for the footage of guys like Surtees, Rindt, Stewart, Clark, Hill (Graham & Phil) McLaren, Bandini, Gurney, etc., etc.
