Have posted this on "Race Coverage" but just in case...  Bouchut to drive Pescarolo, Nelson Piquet Jr to drive R/Age.

Cool, good to see a young driver on the "road to F1" treadmill doing some "proper" racing.  Good luck to baby Nelson  ;D

Well seeing as how it's somewhat on topic plan for this site ;)  and I've finally managed to catch up with most of todays posts (damn work >:( )

Has anyone else spotted the report that Bouchut is out of Henri's motor?? The team thought he didn't get up to speed on Sunday. Nic Minassian has been released by Creation to race with Collard & Comas in the no16 Pescarolo for the race.

Jamie Campbell-Walter is taking the spare seat in the Creation, so I have no idea where this leaves Bouchut & Piquet Jr?? Autosport didn't mention it at any rate...

Yep, I've heard exactly the same rumour about Nic driving the Pesca.

I think patience is the best thing here, everything will be announced - hopefully before I leave my home heading towards LM

A bit surprised that only one of the Penske Panzer drivers will be slumming it next weekend ;D  Dumas is in a GT2 Porsche but looks like Bernhard,
Maassen and Luhr are all staying home.

Not exactly at home
There is another 24 hour race at the same weekend
Luhr and Bernhard drive for Manthey-Racing at the Nurburgring together with Mike Rockenfeller

"I've won that thing last year, now I want to win at the Nurburgring"
Mike Rockenfeller's answer why he doesn't show up at Le Mans

Ah yes, brain hiccup on my behalf, forgot the Ring 24 Hours is the same weekend this year.  That would explain why the Porsche boys are in Germany.  Dumas being a good Frenchman of course would be at the Sarthe.

That's confirmed now. Bouchut says he'll sue Pescarolo. Pesca says he didn't come up to scratch.

That's just the sort of stuff you want going on the week before your biggest race of the year ::)
Nothing like a pissing match to get everyone focused on the job at hand.

They wouldn't be French if they didn't squabble amongst themselves. Nelson P Jr is a quick kid, but I do wonder if he has the temperament or stamina for a 24 hour race.

PS Did his old fella ever race at LM?
I wouldn't sit there if I were you, it's still a bit wet.

The old man raced at Le Mans in 1997 (I think)
driving a Bigazzi McLaren F1 GTR.  Seem to remember him being paired with Steve Soper.  I can't recall Nelson racing at the Sarthe early in his career although he was a regular in the old BMW M1 Procar series.  Hope the kid's stamina is better than the old fella's.  Remember several occasions where the Brabham lads had to literally lift Nelson out of the car after races.

1996 with Johnny Cecotto and Danny Sullivan.
1997 with JJ Lehto and Steve Soper.
Both times in Bigazzi McLarens.

  • You don't win Le Mans - you outlast it.

He did the Spa 24 Hours as well.
I don't care - I'm a racing driver and I'm here to win, not to finish third.
