If you havn't a soldering iron ........bring it down with you and ask Brian to do his fire breathing again.....that might do the job

Update

By the way, how do you use a solder iron? is it like a blow tourch?

Hi No Panic,
Soldering Iron is a completely different animal to the blow torch Roll Eyes Firstly the torch uses flammable gas and has a lovely subdued roar to it. Will burn anything in it's path. The soldering Iron on the other hand operates onPFM ( otherwise know as electricity) and is difficult to know when it is ON. A sure way of know it is ready to solder is to take the tip between you thumb and forefinger.

If it hurts like hell its ready Grin

Switched on - and runs ! ..........almost

But no keyboard functions !!! - ahhhhhhh

Now to take it all apart again.

Anyway with all the spare screws left over, it should be quicker.

UPDATE

The Laptop is complete rebuild, and running OK

and even better only 6 screws left over, I'm sure they did not them in the first place.

Would I do it again, ........ NO.

Next time I let my dog chew it and claim on insurance.

Thanks for all help.

I once took a Mini Engine to bits to replace a broken part in the Gearbox.  After reassembly I had a spare Bearing left over.
I didn't have the balls to try it without.  So took it to bits again.  Once I put it all back together it worked.

I did learn on lesson doing that.  Always replace the oil seals

Fortunately it didn't cost me much oil as I sold the car soon after that.
