There is very little difference between petrol in the uk and france, diesel is a bit cheaper but IMHO if you require high octane fuel and prefer Shell, then I would recommend filling up here first. Then on you way down look out incase it is cheaper then you can come back with a full tank.

There is a shell garage in Cherbourg:-

Use this to locate garages throughout Europe.

If you mean the small station at the north end of Arnage then I think that is now a Total station.

No, I think it's just that the site only lists diesel and 95.  But I'm not up on petrol much as I don't use it!  Most stations sell higher octane unleaded since the Super (4*) finally went altogether last month, as far as I know.  But don't quote me.

Did I hear correct that the garage (By Super U) at Caen Ferry Port now accepts UK cards?

Apparently, it's the Esso station at Ouisterham by the Champion supermarket on the road out of Caen that takes UK cards - although there may be others.

Thanks Deb, the only problem we have is a fill up cost over 600 Euros so asking a local to pay and we give them the cash usually doesn't work, We know when we arrive the garage will be closed but we hope to use it on the way back.

See you Monday.
