Cavalcade 2008
« on: March 28, 2008, 12:14:28 pm »
We've mentioned this before in passing, but how many of you are interested in another Cavalcade this year?  Probably starting once again at the Classic British Welcome, and stopping in the same bar, but via a different route.

This takes a lot of planning, so I'll only do it if a reasonable number of cars will join in.  There is also the alternative of doing this on Classic weekend, but as people don't tend to be around for so long, it may be harder to fit into the schedule.

Thoughts please!

Yes please Deb.  My mottley crowd would be happy to join in.

How about keeping the same route.  It's a drive in a part of the countryside that most of us only do once a year.  I for one can't remember where we went and it would take the hassle away from you.

Only one request - good weather please.

Hope so. My black bitch is coming.

Just to bump this up.

I did a bit of driving around the other day, and came to the conclusion that I'll stick to roughly the same route as last year, but alter one or two bits to make a change for those who came along in '07.

So, the arrangements will be much the same as last year - it seems as though there's enough interest to bother, and I'll publish a route etc nearer the time.

Debs,

Last year was great and thanks for offering to repeat the experience, so me too please - it was a great way to spend some time on the Friday afternoon.  I imagine that me in the MGA and my mate in his Lotus Elan will be up for it again, along with the biker chick that is coming with us this year.  Quite happy with the same/similar route and same cafe.  Timings wise, I wouldn't want to set off any later (and preferably a little earlier) so that there's plenty of time to enjoy the route and the cafe, and then get back to Le Mans with time in hand for some other activities (drivers parade, Arnage village or whatever).

I am arriving on Thursday (rather than late on Friday evening) this year so fully intend to attend.
If I was you, I wouldn't start from here

i will be there too late, like a day too late  ::) but the golden arrow will be in attendance in spirit, have a pint something cold for me and drop some oil on a carpark somewhere for the arrow.

Might spruce up my AUDI and come along... good excuse to stay of the sauce until later in the day  ;)

Also a good chance, I think, to get some pics of cars without fencing in the way...

Bump.  If I can get an diesel (pumps closed, ports and refineries being blockaded all over the place) I'll be doing the recce this week and will post a route in due course.

Hi Deb,

if you can put the route together until 30th May I can publish it in the guide if this helps. No petrol in Le Mans - capital of endurance racing   - sounds weird...

Only Audis and Pugs are affected, Werner!  The shortages are of diesel only at present....
