Support race this year
« on: November 04, 2008, 09:57:26 pm »
Not sure if this has surfaced before but will this be the support race or will we have some classics as well ?

FLM calendar is currently showing the 13/14 June at LM.......

Is there really time on Saturday morning to run this and a classic race too? Especially with the 15.00 start time.

Le Mans is for the week......not just 24hrs!

From the ACO site......

In addition, a round of the Le Mans Formula, the new feeder formula championship created by the ACO and Oreca, will be held as a curtain-raiser to the 2009 Le Mans 24 Hours.

In addition to the 24 hours race, I'd imagine.
I'm not going to bother trying to blag my way into the compound to have a closer look at those.
I do hope there will be some type of "Classic" race
If I was you, I wouldn't start from here

Looks like that will be the Satruday support race  :(  Makes sense I suppose if you;re sponsoring a feeder series, but that could well mean that any classic presence will be limited to the parade laps between the support race and start line build up for the main event. and yes, the GT90 series would be great to see there!

Me too. I would love to see a grid like this again. IMHO, the last really great Le Mans.

Oops, just realised this is the result and not the starting grid. Never mind, add a couple of Merc CLKs and Ferrari 333SPs and you get the idea.

I've come over all misty eyed now.

V12 Ferrari, wooden tribunes, 3/4ish am Sunday put them together and you get a sound made in heaven. Where can I get it as a ringtone.

Given the feeble amount of entries this series gets it would be a poor reflection on what was a good era.

Some people will tell you that slow is good - and it may be, on some days - but I am here to tell you that fast is better.

May be a lone voice but I prefer a modern race as the curtain riser as a change.

The old Renault 5 and GTA races were a panel bashing feast.
