I think you're on to something there Fran  Grin

I wonder what the equivalent of "dossing down on the spectator banking" package would be  Huh

You're either at Le Mans, or waiting for Le Mans!

Guest speakers provisionally booked* to attend the event include:

·         Jackie Oliver, winner of the 1969 Le Mans 24 hours

·         Richard Attwood, winner of the 1970 Le Mans 24 hours

·         David Piper, renowned sports car privateer

·         Richard Bray, former mechanic for the JW-Gulf team

·         John Wagstaff, class-winner in 1963 and 1964, driving a Lotus Elite.

·         Peter Riley, class winner in 1959, driving a Lotus Elite

An impressive list. Should make for  very interesting Q&A sessions

I went to the Jim Clark event these chaps ran last year, at the same place.

The guest speakers make it very intersting, especially for a relative youngster ( Grin) like myself who normally only gets to read about these things. Hearing it from those that made the history was great.

Be warned, it appears jumbo corduroy is compulsory at these events!

I'm hoping to go, but not sure which day yet.

On Saturday, I went along to the Legends of Le Mans Film Festival, at Eynsham Hall. It was basically a nostalgia trip over some of the more 'classic' years at Le Mans, using old footage and photos.

The special guests on hand recalled their personal memories of their times at Le Mans - David Piper, Richard Bray, Peter Riley, Jackie Oliver, John Wagstaff and Richard Attwood.

Plus some super motors on static display outside.

Some of my pics......

This is a GT40 Mk1 Continuation vehicle.

The #6 car is a recreation of the winning car, based on a hybrid of KVA and GTD parts, it is running a Ford 302 engine.

Lotus Elite from 1963 and 1964, class winners both times, driven by John Wagstaff.

MGA Twincam, entered in 1959, 1960 and 1961. Class winners in 1960.

l-r: Richard Attwood, Richard Bray, Peter Riley, David Piper, John Wagstaff, Jackie Oliver.

The rest can be found here,
