Has anyone ever camped in the woods at the infield at Arnage/Indianapolis? I'm presuming this is a private campsite organised by the owners of the house you can see through the trees.

Also, does anyone know - how do you get about from here? I know there's the road to it from the track, but how do you get to and from it when the race is on?

Cheers,
Will.

HI Will, you access Arnage corner from the village of Arnage, however the local plod turn it into a one way system forcing you to go to Mulsanne village and then a long loop back to Arnage. you can also camp at Mulsanne parking area.

Thanks, but you missunderstand me. I know my way around the surrounding area at the outfield, but when you stand on the banking at Arnage you can see a house through the trees on the inside of the track. There is also camping there - but it doesn't appear to have anything to do with the ACO, just the owners of the house. The poeple who camp there get to watch from the inside corner of Arnage and the outside of Indianapolis.

Hi,
Not totally sure on this information, as I have slept since then etc, but I was talking to a jounalist on my ferry over to Le Mans, and he mentioned something about a special enclosure for camping at Arnage corner. A VIP area or similar, but it cost an arm and a leg to camp there. Don't quote me on this but I recal something daft like £1000 or more.
I could e mail him and ask him more about it if you want to know for sure.

Regards
Chris

Will, from what i have found out over the years that area has always been used by marshalls who share the welfare of the track over the whole of the week. if you are up for it that house is up for sale. circa £130k.
to get out and about on race day you go up a track in the woods to meet the d92 route de rauadin. turn left only as the right goes to mulsanne straight. this takes you back to karting nord/beausejour junction.
hope this helps.

And was that the year you didn't see much of the race because the daughter was entertaining you?  Wink
