Been watching a bit of the build up to it. It looks like the VW/Audi group have been throwing cash at it again  Roll Eyes

And the best of luck to him! (but why trucks??)

Been watching a bit of the build up to it. It looks like the VW/Audi group have been throwing cash at it again  Roll Eyes

As they would, given the competition from BMW!

Jan is replacing a friend who was set to drive one of the Ginaf trucks, so the reason is quite random i think Smiley

it is his friend who owns the Jumbo supermarket-chain (also sponsoring him at Le Mans for years)

furthermore the Dutch have been quite successful in the recent years in the truck-category at Dakar

Seems to be paying off at the moment following Peterhansels woes with the top three car slots ....but, anything can change on the Dakar with a week or more to go of more off road stage miles each day than a whole WRC round!

Fantastic photos there!  End of the race soon with one more stage to run tomorrow, and VW look like the investment will finally pay off - be interesting to see if team orders keep Sainz out in front.
