Hello to all, have'nt been here in a long while, happy new year everyone !

Anyway.  Camp site passes are confirmed but sadly travel arrangements are still to be resolved.

Just looking at Brittany Ferries (v expensive) prices looks like we are doing the tunnel this year which is something we have not done for a while.  Looking at the CA guide from last year it says that it is autoroute all the way down from northern ports.

We are thinking of the tunnel at say 6 in the evening on the Wednesday.

Can someone please clarify for me, does this mean its dual carriageway the whole way and is it toll free. How long, 4 hours ish ?

If we went via Paris on the peage would it be quicker.

Thanks all.

Jem

Hi Jem,
Good to see you back.
It's auto route most of the way, except you still have to go through Rouen, no new bridge yet.
3 sections, 1st from Tunnel to Abbeville, toll about 7€.
Abbeville to Rouen, free.
Rouen to Le Mans, about 16€.
That's each way.
Time, under 4 hours if you don't have holdups, cruising on the speed limit.
Forget Paris, longer and probably more expensive.
See you there.

Have you thought about Newhaven Dieppe? 4 hour crossing which gets you a fair bit nearer to Le Mans than Calais.
All depends if Newhaven is out the way for you though! but as you were checking Brittany I presume not  Grin
