this car runned Le Mans 3 consecutive times, abandonned the first and second year and win the third...
I want the 3 years, all the pilots, the car and its chassis number... and specific for Rickmeister the size of its tyres !!!

You don't win Le Mans - you outlast it.

Give us a hint, what decade ? That one is too tough.

Is it the Aston Martin DBR1/2 ?
1957: Tony Brooks crashed (Noel Cunningham-Reid was the second driver)
1958: Retired with cnackered gearbox (Tony Brooks and Maurice Trintignant)
1959: Roy Salvadori and Carroll Shelby won.
Ask Rickmeister for the tyre size. I'll have a pint now.

When I read "abandonned races" I immediately thought of Aston Martin! And as they have only won once, the it has to be the car mentioned by HGB. It was good to see it in action a few weeks ago at Goodwood, sideways for most of the lap.

Thought I'd cracked it with DBR1/2 as well but it ran in 1960 (finishing 9th in the hands of Ian Baillie and Jack Fairman) so assumed that took it out of the equation as it ran 4 consecutive years ... or is our quizmaster playing the bounder/cad card?

According to my sources "Les Bolides de Jack Setton" which is a catalog of his car collection the palmares of the DBR1 with the chassis number DBR 1/2 stop in 1959.
In 1957 drivers are Brooks and Cunningham Reid
In 1958 drivers are Brooks and Trintignant
In 1959 drivers are Salvadory and Shelby...
... and the tyres are 6.00-16 front and 6.50-16 rear.
Bonus question the brand of these tyres ?

Ah! Conflict of information. My source is Janos Wimpfen's "Time & Two Seats" and he has DBR1/2 down as running in 1960 too - interesting!!
