OK, after a break of 5 or 6 years we are definitely going next year.
Could someone bring me up to speed on how to get tickets these days. We won't need camping but Parking Blanc and ACO grandstand (or similar).
And on that subject, your thoughts on the merits of various grandstands please.
Cheers

Hi Jeremy,
Next year Midget50 is almost certainly on the same weekend. However if you do decide to go to Le Mans, I can't help with the info on tickets but can advise (as far as Toby and I are concened) that the Tribune tickets weren't worth the money. Yes you get a seat at the begining and the end of the race when the place is most crowded but you do have the feeling of being torn between wandering around the place as free as a bird or feeling that you really should use the ticket that you've paid 90 ish Euros for a(n uncomfortable) seat next to a large grumpy French person. We were in tribune 16 (Somer) opposite the end of the pits and the large screen but in hindsight I would rather have been at our usual place at the begining of the mulsanne watching the cars come around at race speeds on cold tyres and using the money that we saved to hire the Kangaroo TV instead.

Amazingly ACO have already announced 2011 dates - 11/12 June. How to get tickets page 96 on this years CA Guide. Have never had grandstand tickets myself - far prefer rambling around some favourite haunts at favourite times, and discovering some new places to watch etc.

My request to marshal next year has already gone in, although next years race will be a big let down after this one. For those that saw it that is, I suspect that for most it will be an even better piss up !!!

Allegedly ticket sales for 2011 will start on 4 October 2010 on ACO website. Wondering if ACO are likely to have a working/predictable system at last? Did anyone (termie?) submit last week and get any new response?

We bought tickets for Wolleck - Tribune 22.
Upside: It's cheap. Just €63/seat.
Downside: There's no roof. However that also has a benefit in that only 3 of us had tickets. So once we were in we dropped the pass down to the 4th man, who then got in! There were plenty of empty seats.
If you are in the lower numbered seats you cannot see down the track due to the big screen, but some might argue that this is a big plus point. If you get the lower letters [A, B, C, D] and higher numbers then you'll be ok.
Would I have bought a g'stand seat if this year's weren't so cheap [actually paid €160 for 3]? No.

Did anyone (termie?) submit last week and get any new response? Did anyone ever manage to get anything other than BSJ on the online system? I checked every day from opening for about a month and all the others were "Sold Out" - I don't believe the ACO even sell any of the 'preferred' campsites directly no other than to a very few (lucky/priviliged etc.) people.

I checked every day from opening for about a month and all the others were "Sold Out" Do you recall when the web system sprung into life for this year's race? I thought it was Feb/March time? Which is why I figure October 2010 for 2011 race means it may be a workable system? ... and the Oct. ticket sale start date on the ACO web site? Not sure if it is on their website - I found this on the brochure thing that was available at the gates this year. edited to add picture

nice with an early date. Asked at the ACO when and where to go to buy camping with my membership and they told me to look on the webpage mid september, so date in the calender an hollyday booked.
