House swap/Rental wanted for the Olympics!
« on: October 06, 2010, 08:36:11 pm »
Anybody out there within sensible reach of the goings on during the 2012 Olympics who'd like to escape to the Sarthe instead?  One of the physios at my rehab' place asked me if I knew of anybody who had anywhere available for a sensible cost and/or as a swap for their home over here during the London Olympics.  I said I'd ask around and thought of you lot.  Could be a reasonably priced holiday for a family in exchange for accommodation with reasonable access (they are happy to travel by train) for a mature couple and two (older) teen-aged children.

Hmmmmmmm.... Termie - how long do they want it for?  I live just outside of Reading, which means 25 minutes into London, and a further 30 minutes on the tube to Greenwich.....

When is the bloody olympics anyway?

Satdium in East London, sailing on the South Coast, rowing at Dorney, or other locations such as Manchester, Glasgow, Newcastle............

I think that her major interest is probably athletics, thus I guess the stadium but I get the impression that they have quite a broad spectrum of interests between them.  I'll float the Reading idea to her.  Let's face it, there's loads of time for a private deal but I wanted to float this early so that if she needs to rent she still can - I suspect that prices will rocket and that by this time next year there'll be very little available within the price range of normal mortals!

I'll ask my physiotherapist on Monday if he can help......afterall they have a common interest and my physio is a sporty type as well.

Thank you!  I have had one possible offer but am awaiting a bit of domestic discussion to take place!  Any offers gratefully received.  There seems to be a lot of time, I know but no doubt the longer she waits, the more the rip-off merchants will move in.
