Mulsanne on a sunny June Sunday; it's a hard life!

Took a "serious pill" this morning it seems, so apologies for this one in advance!

Year please and what is the modern day connection between the entrant of the car in the foreground and the Steve McQueen film "Le Mans"?

Look! It's quite straightforward!

The car in the piccy is a Ford Capri 3100Rs and by the look of it, is in Martini livery. The Capri has starred in many famous films, TV series, i.e. The Professionals, Minder, Sweeny etc. But it is Only Fools and Horses to which I refer. In the early series Delboy used to drink Martini shandies. He also drove, in the later series, a Capri Ghia. David Jason was also in the Darling Buds of May.

2. A great friend of McQueen was Kirk Douglas, who apart from covering himself in saturated technicolour in Spartacus, found time to father a son called Michael.

3. Michael Douglas married Catherine Z-J, who a co starred in the Darling Buds with the Capri driving, Martini drinking, David Jason.

Therefore THE f**k*ng ANSWER IS CATHERINE ZETA BLOODY JONES!!!

Jesus! What could be more simple than that! Perfick!

Connection ! Connection ?

It's Robbo!! in his 2 litre diesel Focus!! You can just make out AndyZ in the back seat with the electrodes on his temples!

Oh well, maybe not. Rickmeoleminutaemeister I can't even tell what sort of car it is, is it an Opel Manta? Did they ever race at LM? Anthing to do with Solar Productions.

Can I phone a tart?

H It cannot a Manta. Did you know that Opel have never ever entered a car at Le Mans?

Supplementary question: Which other major manufacturer has never been represented?

And the answer, for once, is not Catherine Zeta Jones.

What can I say Andy, but that is taking lateral thinking to new levels/extremes!!  Grin

I'm afraid to say after all that wonderful Zarseness that it is not the answer I am looking for (and neither is a knuckle sandwich before you suggest one!).

It is not a Capri either, so therefore Delboy theory blown out of the water in the first instance.

And not Martini colours either...... See, I've taken a severe beating with the serious stick today!

Not an Opel Manta H I'm afraid. But please feel free to phone a tart anyway!  Wink

The car is a chevy Monza, the year was 76, and the driver was M Keyser, who wrote a A French Kiss with death. The book of the film.

I think the monza is aclose relative to an opel monza?

Very impressive Nordic!! Really thought this would get take a little more time!! Good work fella!

Michael Keyser was also the entrant in case anyone quibbles with the original question.

Now time for a bit of namedropping on my part. Know Michael quite well and did some of the photo research for the book, even got a credit in it, as did Dave "Club Arnage" Davies!

"... For his assistance accumulating many of the vintage photographs, I thank Rick Wilson, Mr. Maison Blanche."

There, my fifteen minutes is well and truly up!
