Does anyone in CA have any knowledge of legal matters concerning employment law? Myself and Mrs U used to work for the same company but now work for competitors. I have been asked to sign a confidentiality agreement (which is fine and usual in the industry we are in) but can't understand the legal jargon. I've googled and understand some of it but a lot of it is above my head and seems to contridict itself. I have been told that I am not legally obliged to sign it but need to know if there are any implications written into it if I don't. Any help appreciated.

That's a tricky one as I suspect that the CA was written without thought to it being applied to a married couple.

Bet there are legal judgements on the validity of such agreements being overturned by marriage.

The CAB might be able to tell you, though it might be over their heads, so it might pay you to find a decent employment solicitor close to you for an hour of advice.

Or, if you prefer my summary, I bet it ain't worth the paper it's written on.

You mean Mrs U actually talks to you Bob? I was under the impression that your frankly diabolical behaviour had you in the doghouse for most of the year.

Your absolutely right Bob, a big thanks to Mr Wishy for vital advice on a failing dishwasher, turned out to be just a blocked pipe, would have cost a pretty penny with a service engineer, instead beers in beer pot.
Perhaps we should start a Font of knowledge register, peps could (if they want to) list their specialities. For my part I am working on a second career (first being Engineering and Auto ID technology) in home insurance set up and claims.

Ian....

I was a pleasure to help out a fellow CAer. I must admit it does have it's spin offs being on here, in as much as it does actually generate follow up business.

Only yesterday I sorted out one of our finest members of Hampshire Constabulary, courtesy of one of our members who shall remain namless so as not to incriminate and today I am visiting yet another member of said constabulary on recommendation and it has been known that I have even visited Cheshire to do  a repair Grin

So it just goes to show a petrol heads website even has its benefits for small businesses and I must admit due to my accident last year, when I lost 60% of my turnover due to me no longer being able to supply goods, as I am no longer able to do any excessive heavy lifting, so any servicing work that comes in means I can survive in these difficult times........but when I do get whatever compensation is due....a new toy is possibly on the shopping list!!!!!

I specialise in drinking, but I suspect we can all lay claim to that.   Grin Grin Grin

Having tasted what I bottled this morning, I'm not so sure about that.
