I have decided that I am going to the TT next year instead of LM24.

On the assumption that its something I will only do once, I am going for the full fortnight and want to see/do as much as possible in a single trip.

Has anyone been before and have any useful tips or hints they can pass on?

(I have already discovered that I am about 6 months late in starting to plan the trip, but optimistic that I can get transport and camping sorted out....!)

Thanks in advance.

Take a mac, it is quite often wet.  Does that mean you will miss the Classic as well?

Provided I can secure a second mortgage to pay for the trip to the TT - I am planning to be at the Classic as well.

Hi Fran,
Keep us informed of what  you find out. Some of us would love to go to the TT so any information will be valuable.
Sorry you will have to miss LM though.

Fran,

Drop me a line with a list of questions and I will pass it onto a customer who attends and they will be able hopefully answer your questions!

I do know that the B&B they stay in is booked out for the next couple of years!

Thanks Jules - I will work on a list of questions - but starting from scratch its hard to know what I really need to know!

So far I have deposits on the following:-

Campsite for 2 weeks
Foot passenger ferry crossing
Private parking space in Heysham near ferry terminal to leave my car
Two nights in a B&B before practice week

So I am pretty secure that I can get there/back and have places to stay, but I am just hoping that in Feb/March when everyone has to pay the balance on their deposits a car space will come up on the ferry then I will be able to camp more comfortably!

Fran,

Jim is just back from the Manx GP week..........spoke to him when he was just behind the pits and I have to say it sounded good!

They are Fedex-ing all their clothes and consumables to the B and B the week before the TT so when they travel down from Scotland on their Bikes they can go with a small rucksack on their backs, great idea. the B and B will be sending them back

You may want to speak to the B and B about doing the same with your tent and stuff if a car space does not become available.

If you need some really good cardboard boxes, let me know. We get plenty in with work so I will stash a few for you and hand them over when we have the next Northern CA meet.

Well Stu - I may see you there!

I have said it is going to be a once in a lifetime visit... but I said that about Le Mans too!!

I must say the logistics of getting across to the island are a nightmare compared to crossing to France.

The lad at work goes just about every year and he normally books a year in advance. I'm sure you're right with the ferry drop outs though after xmas. I'll ask him on my return to work after this weekends boat show trip and post back.

Great to see something that doesnt just show the crashes but demonstrates the skill and bravery (or insanity - depending on your point of view!)!
