Some people will tell you that slow is good - and it may be, on some days - but I am here to tell you that fast is better.

Speechless ...
Probably one of the greatest talents I saw in GT racing.

Devastating news ,  like  Kristof has said Sean was one of the greatest talents in GT racing. I was very happy to witness him win the Nurburgring 24 Hours in May for Mercedes. A little ironic that the Spark model of that winning car is due for release this month.

Also had the pleasure of shaking his hand at Sebring last March.

Very sad indeed.

His father, Guy won a medal for helping save Nicki Lauda

Very sad - as always.

Thoughts with the family of the young driver too, a terrible thing to have witnessed - hoping for a good outcome for him.

ALMS press release...

Sean Edwards To Be Honored At Petit Le Mans

BRASELTON, Ga. (Oct. 15, 2013) – The American Le Mans Series presented by Tequila Patrón will
honor the memory of driver Sean Edwards at the season finale Petit Le Mans Powered by Mazda at Road
Atlanta on Oct. 19. Edwards, 26, was killed today in an accident during a private driving training session
at Queensland Raceway in Australia.

“All of us at the American Le Mans Series extend our thoughts, prayers and deepest sympathies to the
family and friends of Sean Edwards,” said Scott Atherton, president and CEO of ALMS. “Sean was a
rising star in sports car racing who found success in the United States and around the world. We will
remember him as a driver and a human being with so much potential. He will be dearly missed.”

In tribute to Edwards’ memory, a memorial decal has been created for all cars competing in the ALMS
season finale. The decal design was created from an illustration of Edwards’ helmet by renowned
motorsports artist Andy Blackmore.

Edwards is currently fourth in the 2013 ALMS GTC class point standings. He earned seven podiums in 10
career ALMS starts, including a win earlier this season at Long Beach on April 20. He also competed in
the two previous GRAND-AM Rolex Sports Car Series’ Rolex 24 At Daytona endurance races. Among
Edwards’ many racing accomplishments was winning the 2006 FIA GT3 European championship. He was
the son of former Formula One driver Guy Edwards.

Just learned that Sean Edwards plays the role of his father Guy Edwards in the movie "Rush". His father was one of the drivers assisting in Lauda's rescue in the 1976 crash at the Nürburgring.
"… to be honest, I did it purely for the money at first. I went to Le Mans
hoping that the car would break down. I came away in love with the place." - Eddie Irvine

GF, thanks for posting the konrad link.

Very nice tribute as there has been across the motorsport world both teams and fans.

tragic that Sean father Guy was one of the principal competitors in the Aurora British F1 Championship in 1979 and 1980, his principal rival being Emilio de Villota… which is a horrible irony given the passing of his daughter Maria de Villota in the last week or so.

RIP
