While i missed this this year, my friends did attend and suffered again at the hands of pikeys.

I have been going long enough to know that its not getting worse and has always happened and you don't take what you cannot afford to loose, but as I am getting older/less tolerate I have been looking at more secure sites.

Has any one used airtrack village or similar sites, at first glace, it looks like we may be switching being robbed by pikeys to be robbed by Thomas cook and I would be better off just leaving a 10 euro note for the pikeys each night.

Are they worth the extra? do you get to park next to your tent etc?

Security beefed up on Bleu Nord this year, security patrolling the site after the race and into the evening. Gate still manned Monday morning with security still not letting Pikies in.
Big improvement.

Like you, I have been thinking about AirTrack. One issue I have seen is getting out after the race. It was bad from Houx but I saw it was many times worse from AirTrack.

If I do stay at AirTrack my plan is to pack up and move the car out before race end, maybe into Le Mans and take the tram back in.

Leaving on Sunday is problem, we usually head up to a hotel about 1/2 hour up the road, mainly because the Houx Annexe turns a bit feral after the race but would consider staying Sunday night on site if the site was a bit more secure. That would clearly offset the extra cost of the camping.

Security on all the sites is better, but you have no assurance what happened this year will happen again next year, but either Houx or Blue Nord are options as the Houx annexe is maybe the most insecure site!

Only camped 'public' once, BSJ, never again. Travel Destinations have been our choice since. Yes, you pay dearly, but they're worth it, no problems at all, ever, and always a good vibe.

That said, we hope to go to Area 24 with White Rabbit next year, looks perfect for us.

Oi Oi Barry are the J.E.D.I. allowed in the special campsite? And if so how do we book and not just get shoved anywhere do we need to book a plot number? Please just say yes the 4am pisseed up cycle ride back on saturday morning nearly killed me and Pat.
