Hotel on Route to Calais from LM

Looking for a bit of advice if anyone knows a nice Hotel on route back from LM to Calais ?

You can always do a lot worse than taking a detour to Dieppe for an evening.
About 30 minute detour from Calais route from North of Rouen.

We have done this a few times....................
Cannot really recommend anywhere - we have only ever stayed at Formule Une or other (generic) capsule hotels.

But there is always plenty of choice at Dieppe, and a few Le Mansters still hanging around waiting for the first ferry out to Blighty on Monday.
Great restaurants and views across the harbour in the evening!

We usually stay in Bagnoles-de-l'Orne on the way home. It's a bit off the route but it's a nice spa town with a very good chocolate shop and some nice bars. There's also Gacé on thae A28, complete with it it's own speed cameras and a cashpoint machine, which is handy for drawing out funds to pay the fine of the hiding Gandarmes.

How far do you want to travel, before stopping & how much do you want to spend?

If you fancy a detour, there is Caen - some nice hotels, there....or Honfleur, which is really nice....... or if you want nearer Calais, there's Le Touquet, which is nice but can be a bit pricey

First time we have gone back via the UK to Ireland usually ferry direct but timetable doesn't suit us this year.Looking for somewhere not to far of route so Dieppe might suit. Just want to be sure its somewhere with a restaurants open on Sunday evening, having encountered the Sunday shutdown in French towns before. Thanks for all the advice guys. Budget would be around middle (not looking for 5* but would like something reasonably nice)

If you like seafood - La Musardiere on the quay at Dieppe is not too expensive but is very good....!!

Sorry, but can't tell you if it's open on a Sunday - maybe Google can??

As for a hotel - the IBIS, Windsor & the Brit hotels (I know....I know!) have on-site parking, which may be something you'll want.

They are not the cheapest but we use Novotel when travelling in Europe, very comfortable, you can usually get an early booking deal, but make sure you go for the breakfast included ones. Breakfasts can be quite expensive, about 14€, as there is a hot option.

Thanks for all the advice guys the lads decided on Honfleur.Place booked and i'm sure we'll find a nice seafood restaurant there :)

Honfleur is really nice - good restaurants surround the quay & a great place to chill, especially if the sun is shining

Also, if you like that sort of thing, try & get into the Church which (they say!) was built without using any saws on the timbers, only axes...

Mind you, culture after Le Mans? Unlikely.......  :D

Honfleur great, but we went there with a child with a seafood allergy, nightmare trying to find a restaurant with suitable menu. Also restaurants a bit expensive.

Depends how far you want to travel. After the race, we have stayed just by Alencon (http://www.le-gasseau.com/). A great place away from it all.

It is just long enough to get away from Le Mans but still time to get a decent shower and enjoy the evening. A bit of a trek the following day still but at least the traffic has gone from the roads. We chose this option to miss the traffic.
