Drones - just a thought?
« on: April 29, 2015, 04:02:46 pm »
Just wondered if anyone had plans for taking stills or video from a drone during the race weekend.
Obviously, there are dangers with drones being over the track, but to be track side of the fencing and getting vantage points from otherwise prohibited locations would be interesting.
Not condoning it, as I assume its against some French law, but hey, so is speeding ;0)
If you can't fix it with a hammer, you have an electrical problem.

Nice idea but I think the ACO will take a very dim view of drones anywhere near the track...
I tested negative for patience.

I can see the CRS being issued with shot guns.
"Don't mess with the CRS!"

I recall a few years ago on Mad Friday, camped on MB annexe before the concrete wall was built along the roadside we were stood with a French family enjoying the insanity on the B road adjacent to the camp site when the local Gendarmes gave up trying to control events and the CRS arrived and stood in a line down the centre of the road.
The father of the French family went into his camper van and emerged with a long fishing rod with which he proceeded to bang the nearest CRS officer (heavily armed btw) on his helmet shouting "CRS-SS" over and over.
Much hilarity ensued until Monsieur CRS decided he could not maintain his impassive expression any longer and leapt over the ditch and fence and promptly arrested his assailant.

Happy days!
