I have some waterproof socks that I use for cycling - fantastic things.

http://www.sealskinz.com

used with a wide brimmed waterproof hat it means that I can keep both ends warm and dry.

Yes spceial socks sock's are essential, clean ones wouldn't want to spread athlete's foot!
The other is a portable power pack to recharge the Mobile phone, I have  a 5200Ah one that will charge my IPhone 3 times, also the camera battery should see me through the weekend.

12 volt to mains inverter, on my list. Plug in a light if you have to set up in the dark or use to charge mobile, laptops etc.
