Gadgets
« on: May 19, 2016, 01:39:00 pm »

Having missed out on a day in Peterborough shopping, I feel that I have missed out on getting that killer gadget, the one that will take away the deadly dull chore or provide me with untold pleasure (and I am not talking about Angelina)  >:D

I know that there are many years of LM experience across CA, so I am interested if you can share information about the worst and best gadgets that people have.

Best - little inflatable cushion for the tribune seats to caress my bony arse.
Worst - hi fi system in the cobra - a complete waste of time as all I can hear is V8 side pipes.

Signals so bad at LM your phone battery drains fast.

Baby wipes, if indeed they are gadgets.
If not, then my trusty pocket sized solar charger.
I tested negative for patience.

Last few years yes, cos it's not been that sunny. Some like the power monkey you can recharge from a usb, get a plug for you ciggie lighter on the car and it charges quickly.

I charge it up from a usb connection the day before I leave and use the detachable solar panels to top it up if required but it's never let me down. Brand is "Freeloader" http://www.aboveandbeyond.co.uk/Products/SKU14704/portable-solar-charger?utm_source=bing&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=%5Bb.%5D%20Shopping%20%7C%20All%20Products&utm_term=1101601959129&utm_content=All%20Products

Wasn't everyone buying those radio headphones from Clas Olson last year? Were they no good?

Ho ho. I thought they weren't until I realised I'd left it on and flattened the batteries

Power bank, that's a good idea

2 x car batteries.

I have two old batteries from two previous cars.  The batteries were not that good at holding their charge while strapped into the cars but seem perfectly capable of charging various gadgets (mainly phones) via a 3-way USB adapter, which has 3 x twin USB adapters so thereby giving a total of 6 charging points.  And even that's never enough!

I keep them charged & conditioned for a while before leaving for LM and that way they provide most, if not all, of our on-site charging needs for 4 or 5 days.

That reminds me, I must go and start the charging & conditioning...

I actually remembered to lack baby wipes last year - invaluable for removing the fake tattoo that I had on my face on Friday night.  (However, had I left it on, I'm sure I would have seen a bit more respect as I waked around on Saturday)

My best gadget is P20 Sunscreen which is the only Put On Once And Forget sunscreen that I have every come across.  It saves having to carry and reapply sun screen. Nit works even it I work up a sweat cycling, or go swimming (not a lot of that over LM weekend tho'). Recommended.
