Campsites a mudbath

Drove past Houx and BN today. Looked OK but only about 10% occupied and looks could be deceiving. Would need amazing drainage to be good IMHO, certainly 200 or more of the 300 ticket holders at Arnage are going to be very indignant.

Went to BN yesterday. Entry is getting muddy with all the holes in the road and could/will get worse. Pitches and roads inside BN still seem to be ok though, same for bleu sud.  Beausejour will be a muddy mess.

MeteoFrance still says thunderstorms until friday. On others it also looks like it will be wet at least until friday.

Toured BSJ yesterday and was surprised how good it looked in the main. Some very marshy areas, stagnant water etc., but it looked to have been properly cut a few times already and cars were parked in the middle with no traces of wheels dug in. Of course Blue and MB will be fine since sandy soil, but beware the bottom of Houx Annexe!

Still rain forecast until Saturday, but today lovely blue sky at the moment despite the forecast. But beware, storms here normally start about 6pm.

Sorry to say on Sunday i reviewed the forecasts and took the easy option and am currently sitting in Egypt where it is dark and 38 degrees. No rain forecast.  :-)

We are in Epinettes and the one advantage of it being so wet is that you can identify the pitches that flood before you put your tent up!  There are a few flooded pitches but most are ok. No issues with mud ........... yet! Actually doesn't look like there will be any as long as people don't try driving through the very wet areas.

At this stage the showers are excellent, might change when all pitches are full!

How was the mud?

I saw what Arnage was like. Bad.

Houx was mostly OK, but very wet at the bottom of slopes.

Houx Annex I know had real problems because people were moved elsewhere.

But what were other people's experiences.

Some of the lower lying fields in BSJ were a marsh, we found a good dry area within the woods just by the entrance to the Porsche Curves. Problem was, so did the other half of the camp site. However all our neighbours were good and we had a great time....

Epinettes was OK. The bit behind us was a bit soggy when we arrived but that didn't stop a group pitching there later in the week.

BN absolutely no problem, best campsite for drainage IMHO.
