If I'm reading this right, (Its gibberish), you now need one for half the departments of France

Fortunately, the channel ports to Le Mans area is clear, unless you go through Paris, as the Chartres dept is covered, or go the route from Rouen via Dreux, which is in the Chartres dept.

I suspect that you'd only get a ticking of as an ignorant Englishman if you don't have a sticker, but with the slightest bit of smog, cars older than 2001 are banned and anything older than 1997 looks like being banned permanently.

I'll do some research later today, as I hadn't realised it was this bad, and nobody else has mentioned it, and I've just come back from France, and none of the cars had stickers

The good news is that the AA and the Caravan Club know nothing, and the bad news is that the EU have set up a vast raft of rules for Urban Access, and Emergency Regulations.  Plus the captain of a US Cruse ship has been arrested for using high sulphur (normal) fuel oil and faces a $200,000 fine and a year in jail, as Marseille is now full of smog as its been encouraging cruise ships.  And they have no way to tell you that a car ban is in force, unless you look it up on the internet, and the first one I looked at had a ban on pre-2001.  You couldn't make this up.  It seems to get sillier.

So, if you have a 20 year old sports car or campervan, you need to show an interest, or rely on the Vienna Convention on Road Traffic, which says if it works in the UK its good for France

Hopefully with cars like mine which are classed in the UK as Historics (and confirmed on the V5, I should have some kind of exemption.

Exemptions from the rules for environmental zones in France
Some vehicles are exempt from driving bans within the established environmental zones. Especially vehicles of public services (police, fire brigade, emergency service, etc.) and other vehicles of public enterprises.
All vehicles eligible to receive a Crit'Air badge are also obliged to purchase it, including vehicles and drivers who are exempt from driving bans in the ZCR and ZPA environmental zones. Persons with reduced mobility who carry a parking permit for disabled persons also need a Crit'Air badge, even though they are exempt from the possible driving bans. Parking cards for disabled persons are the same all over Europe so that vehicles of handicapped persons are recognisable abroad, too.
Other private vehicles can also be liberated from the obligation to bear a Crit'Air Vignette. But this happens only by means of a special approval from the state or the community.
Here are particular opportunities for vintage cars, old tourist vehicles, breakdown services, etc.



Rules for Old-timers
The rules for old-timers are not settled at the national level, but are different for every environmental zone.
French drivers can prove that their car belongs to the “old-timers” category with the mention “véhicule de collection” under the letter “Z” on the registration certificate.
In the other European countries, this mention can be found under the line “specific”. The special remarks and specificities are written in this section.
The classification of the vehicle as “old-timer” must be proven with the registration certificate in any case. However, the capacity of the police to recognize the different designations for “old-timers” in different languages remains questionable.

Old-timers in Paris
Due to an exception,"oldtimers" are allowed to drive in the ZCR zone Paris. Thus, they will not be penalised for violating the driving prohibitions in force, if they can prove that they are an "oldtimer". For transport or business vehicles over 30 years of age, a special permit can be requested from the city of Paris. However, this is limited in time.

Old-timer in Grenoble and Lyon
Oldtimer in the metropolis Grenoble and Lyon
In Grenoble and Lyon, according to the local prefectures, there are no exceptions for vintage cars at present. It is even emphasised that vintage cars will also be punished if they enter the metropolitan areas of Grenoble and Lyon during air pollution peaks. This is particularly bitter, as in the case of Grenoble this also affects the main highway to the south.

Even my Duke Monster can't get a crit air, let alone the KH250.

Its a complete pigs ear.  I'm sure they'll extend this to racing cars next, so scrutineering will consist of an examination of the Critair sticker, the MOT and the insurance cover note

And sadly the KH250 will have to be crushed as its a 2-stroke

Even my Duke Monster can't get a crit air, let alone the KH250.

They need to catch you first.... but it's been a while since you took your bike to LM, but you wouldn't go via Paris or Rennes, unless you wanted proper dog leg routes.

True but it effects some the the bike rallies that were held in Paris, and for anybody who used an older bike in the cities effected, they now can't, even for commuting.
Hammer to crack a nut.
And in the real world won't make a tiny difference to pollution.
Gesture politics of the worse kind.

I thought it was a "go anywhere" vehicle  Grin

This is spreading through France, and even the M4 near me is going to have a 50 mpg speed limit to cut pollution, not that you can ever do 50mph

This is spreading through France, and even the M4 near me is going to have a 50 mpg speed limit to cut pollution, not that you can ever do 50mph

Oh - I still go anywhere...just not very quickly and not always by the most direct route.

Is this BS one of the reasons so many want to get into America? I can go from here Miami, Florida (S.E. U.S.) to Seattle, Washington (N.W. U.S.) which is 3,300+ miles without dealing with any of that stuff.

Climate change a myth? Absolutely not. 'Been happenin' since the earth's inception.

What's increased most that contributes pollutants? Maybe we need to look there.
