Whatching the start

We always used to be grandstand boys, but the last couple of years finances for some of our group have dictated a by the track situation, and we have found that down by the esses is a great place to be.

LeMansZone.de - team watches at the Dunlop chicane, always nice as some drivers start already to fight for position there. There's also a big screen opposite, so you can follow the action on other parts of the track.

inside at the esses but it was bloody busy so get there early once in it was difficult to get out for about the first 3/4 hr

Before the ACO put that kink after the dunlop bridge, that was great spot to watch. I will never forget standing at the bottom of the hill looking up to the dunlop bridge.

I like the new kink, especially if you are standing by the chappelle campsite lloking down.

My spot is usually at the TVR / BENTLEY / MORGAN pits, so this year its ??


Aston Martin. The TWATS are usually next to our lot too.

We used to go on the roof of the control tower, access through the Welcome area, but this has been used for filming for the last few years.  Hopefully  we will get up there this year as you see the whole of the pit straight and the right hand curve up to the new chicane at Dunlop Bridge.

I've always fancied Indianapolis for the first few laps, its just a bugger to get there.

We discovered the roof of the karting buildings last year.  There was a small supplement to pay but it was a good view.  

Does this get busy at the start and end?

I thought the roof of the karting building was out of bounds and used for private parties?

Just down from the Mulsanne Corner is quite a good spot as well. Doesn't get that busy as well.

Hate to say it but I will be in the ACO stand again I like the stand seats

I think its going to take a bit of planning but TR looks promising for us this year (How early do we need to get there for?).

<smug mode on> Same as the Start for us Bobblehat - in the ACO stand, nice and comfy with a good view of everything. <smug mode off>

To be fair though, any of the stands along the start/finish straight afford similar  views really.

If you do not have this luxury then anywhere along the start finish straight on the terraces opposite the pits. You'll have to get there early though - the terraces start to fill up from around 13:00 onwards.

When we used to leave immediately at the end of the race (for the mad dash back to Calais), we found that the Virage d'Arnage was an excellent place. Good atmosphere, and with that 90 deg bend, the cars go slow enough for the drivers to give you a decent wave and thumbs up.

It is also handy for a fast exit if that is your plan.

Hmmmm....by this year's finish I will be past Rouen - having to get an early evening ferry due to work commitments...
