A very interesting documentary and worth listening to (30 minutes).

It was Steve, fascinating.
Was it just me, or did I detect a certain amount of wistfulness in the "Le Mans expert"s voice when he mentioned french women covered in live snakes?
I would also say that it's probably been some time since he was last at La Sarthe, judging by a couple of his comments. From this, I think we can safely infer that on his last visit he got physically, if not romantically involved with the Reptile Woman, and things didn't quite go according to his grimy plan. If he'd paid more attention to the race instead of trying to fulfill his depraved fantasies, we may have got a more accurate and fuller account.
Personally, I reckon she done a runner under cover of darkness, and probably some damp leaves, with a French driver; that would go some way to explaining his disparaging comments about poor Pierre Levagh.
That's the BBC for you.
