But not Rally drivers in full blown F1 cars though :-X
For sure.  But F1 cars are not easy to come by as such.  I agree there is a skill in setting up a car to go fast on a given curcuit.

But when they are all given the same car with no tweaking the Gears or Suspension and so on the Rally Drivers seem to be more adaptable.

I really don't follow F1 these days.  Thats because I got bored with  Ferrari 1 2, Williams 3 4 McLaren 5 6 or whatever.

Sometimes there is a lot of BS spouted about the feed back into production cars.
A friend of mine worked for British Leyland in the late70's early 80's and was interested in computer systems.   At a Computer show we went to he tried to get some leads in to an F1 team and the Computer supplier to the team (one of hte early adoptors of onboard computers) he got the cold shoulder.    OK so the engine was a Ford (or Cosworth to be more correct) but the team were not a manufacturer as such.
